Overview
The Santa Catarina, Brazil Chapter forms a partnership with the Virginia, United States Chapter. The two Chapters draw up a Biannual Plan, revised annually, to establish priority projects in the partnership’s areas of activity. The Santa Catarina Chapter is made up of volunteers who dedicate their time and skills to promoting good and spreading action in favor of people and communities. Volunteers are involved in the various exchange and cooperation projects and activities, offer accommodation and logistical support to visitors from the partner committee, take part in the established program and get directly involved in community work. The Chapter also has the support of public bodies and institutions, especially universities in the state of Santa Catarina. Throughout its history, the Santa Catarina Chapter has developed projects and exchanges in the areas of education and technology, character education, drug prevention and combating violence, arts and artist exchanges, culture, music and choir exchanges, health, civil defense, community development, agriculture (viticulture, fish farming and mariculture), the environment and natural resources, rural tourism and hospitality, recreation and sports, and university exchanges. Projects in the area of education have received priority attention in recent years, albeit with limited resources. The exchange and sharing of experiences between professionals and volunteers from both countries and the partnership between public and private organizations can contribute to a fairer, better and more developed society.
