Partners of the Americas Serves as Thought Leader at the 2023 Central American Donors Forum

October 27, 2023: Washington, D.C. — Partners of the Americas (Partners) President and CEO John McPhail served as a thought leader at the 2023 Central American Donors Forum (CADF) in San Jose, Costa Rica from September 25-27, 2023. The CADF acts as the “premier multi-sectoral networking and learning space to advance philanthropy and development efforts in Central America.”

Almost 700 international leaders from 475 organizations from civil society, the private sector, and the government attended nearly 60 sessions, including panels, roundtables, workshops, and site visits. The sessions discussed the development, justice, and equity in Central America, addressing migration, human rights, education, health, strategic alliances, economic development, climate, and sustainable development, among others.

Partners has empowered communities in Central America for almost 60 years through effective local development interventions, partnerships, and volunteerism. Our work there began with our Nicaragua Chapter in 1965, and Partners now manages five multi-million dollar projects in the region, focusing on agriculture and food security, community service projects, student exchanges, and promoting labor rights.

President and CEO McPhail shared Partners’ legacy and current initiatives in the region with leaders from local and international foundations, corporations, and governments. These included: Tinker Foundation, Fusal, ICCO, Helvetas USA, Mott Foundation, Christian Aid, CRUSA, Glassing, Price Foundation, Teach a Man to Fish, Mercy Corps, IDE, Covenant House, Comunalia, and the Costa Rican Presidential Commissioner for Inclusion.

The Organizational Advancement Department, responsible for communications, marketing, innovation, and private and public partnerships at Partners of the Americas provided impact materials to share with donors for the event.

While in Costa Rica, McPhail also met with leaders from the local Partners Chapter in Costa Rica and supported their initiatives.
