Partners of the Americas is recruiting for a Large Scale Food Fortification Specialist to join its prospective staff in the implementation of the USAID-funded Food Fortification project Fòtifye Manje pou Ranfòse Sante (“Strengthening Food to Boost Health”) (FÒTIFYE) in Haiti. This role will be pivotal to the successful introduction of a competitively priced, high quality, new(ly) fortified food vehicle designed for pregnant women, infants, and young children. This position will report to the Chief of Party and will be designated local field staff based in Haiti.
Essential/Primary Functions
- Provide guidance to private sector partners about what can be fortified, how, and in what quantity to ensure minimum standards are achieved.
- Advise the private sector, government counterparts and where appropriate local academic institutions and laboratories on how to monitor the fortification of foods.
Qualifications & Minimum Requirements:
- Advanced graduate degree, master’s degree or higher, ideally in Food Technology, Nutrition, or food industry related fields;
- At least five (5) years of experience in the food production industry either in the private sector or with an implementing partner;
- Proven understanding of quality management, food fortification and regulatory compliance, preferably from direct implementation or management experience;
- Proven understanding of appropriate technology and testing approaches for monitoring fortified food;
- A strong understanding and preferably experience of bringing a new product to market;
- Strong oral and written communication and presentations skills in French and English; working knowledge of Haitian Creole is highly desired.
