RED2021 Project Manager
RED2021 is a forward-looking network that was launched at the 2nd World Summit for Youth Volunteering, creating connections between and globally mapping the personal and organizational commitments of youth volunteers and their organizations and employers. RED2021 will be the global place for youth to come together to pursue their passion, build their skills, and multiply their impact through volunteering.
Partners of the Americas and the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) are seeking an entrepreneurial-minded consultant to serve as Project Manager for a focused six month effort to:
1. Lead a participative strategic planning process, coordinating the participation of staff and volunteers from the sponsoring partner organizations;
2. Develop the conceptual framework for the project;
3. Analyze the "competition" in the online youth service space;
4. Engage with and bring into this work the perspectives and experiences of relevant individual and organizational leaders in the space;
5. Develop a complete business plan, including concept, target audience, value proposition, operational strategies, implementation timetable and resource requirements;
6. Develop a financing strategy for both the initial development and long-term sustainability of the project;
7. Identify potential investors and analyze the feasibility of securing short- and long-term financing; and,
8. Support each of the sponsoring partner organizations in their internal review and consideration of the business plan.
9. Ensure that the existing network is sustained and contributes to the development of the project as appropriate.
The Project Manager will work with a Steering Committee composed of staff and volunteers from the sponsoring partner organizations. A senior staff member of one of the sponsoring organizations will serve as the designated liaison for the Project Manager.
Applicant must be fluent in English, have strong communication skills, be comfortable working with social media, have demonstrated experience in program development and start-ups, and have experience working in multi-cultural settings. Knowledge of youth volunteering and/or global networking is desirable.
Applicant must be DC-based or reasonably able to attend face-to-face meetings in DC. Some travel outside of Washington, DC may be required.
