What We Do /

Terry McAuliffe from Nebraska, who works as an International Business Consultant, was responsible for hosting several Fellows from Brazil before he took part in his own exchange. Since his introduction to the American Fellows Program, he has hosted and mentored eleven Business Fellows from Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Ceara, Espirito Santo and Goias.  The hosted Fellows represent private sector business owners, consultants, government and industry federation individuals.

As a result of these Business Fellow exchanges, many important activities and “next steps” occurred.  In late 2008, Terry organized and conducted a US-Brazil logistics Industry Leadership Forum in Omaha, NE.  This forum hosted more than forty US and Brazil industry leaders and engaged them in a weeklong formal event.  Forum results identified how US and Brazil can better collaborate through a formal business assistance program that can identify, qualify, introduce and help manage strategic business partnerships between Brazil, South America and US.  Formal results of this forum are documented.  A major Jesuit University has stepped forward and has offered office space to support the establishment of a US-Latin American resource office.

Also in 2008, in preparation of the US-Brazil Industry Leadership Forum, four members of the Nebraska Fellows contingency developed a “Global Business Model” presenting six critical stages of global growth that small and medium-scale enterprises can follow in order to build “sustainable” business partnerships.  In May, 2010 he was invited to participate in a major trade event with the sister state of Mato Grosso do Sul.  The Industry Federation of MS (FIEMS) highlighted their global business initiative to area industries as well as “ZICOSUL” industry representatives from Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay

In 2010, Terry was elected as the President of the Nebraska Chapter of Partners of the Americas and has continued to build relationships between these two countries.
