Director for Resource Development


 

Partners of the Americas, a private, nonprofit, non-partisan organization, seeks a proactive, highly motivated and detail oriented individual to lead the Resource Development Unit.

 

Responsibilities

 

The primary responsibility of the Director is to lead the Partners’ Resource Development Unit in the pursuit of new business opportunities with the US Government (USAID, State Department, DOL, etc), multi-lateral organizations, foundations and the private sector. 

 

This includes but is not limited to:

· Overseeing the design and production of timely, professional and effective responses to RFPs, RFAs and other USG requests

· Understanding USG regulations and ensuring compliance in all submitted proposals

· Writing and editing proposals and documents related to resource development opportunities, including proposals, capability statements, and other documents

· Preparing or overseeing the preparation of budgets and cost notes for proposals

· Leading proposal efforts for other non-USG program opportunities

· Leading and working with multi-disciplinary teams, including team members located throughout the hemisphere  

· Intelligence gathering for up-coming opportunities.

· Overseeing or providing input to fundraising efforts and donor relations

· Give leadership to other resource development unit’s initiatives.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

 

The Director for Resource Development will oversee a Deputy Director and a Program Officer. The Director will join the senior leadership team of the organization.  The Director will play an important role in contributing to organizational initiatives, interacting regularly with the staff, and with the Partners’ network throughout the Hemisphere. 

 

Required Skills and Experience

 

· Excellent proposal development skills as demonstrated by a successful track record with government and other funding

· Proven experience with all levels of the resource development process, including assessing opportunities, designing proposal, recruiting staff, crafting capability statements, negotiating with counterparts and formulating budgets.

· Strong problem solving ability, outstanding interpersonal skills and high energy and enthusiasm. 

· Superior written and oral communication skills in English.

· Strong people skills to work in teams and lead initiatives.

· Good instincts for communications and public relations and understanding the relationship between new program development, fundraising and communications.

· Knowledge of development and field experience in Latin America and the Caribbean.

 

The position will involve working and learning in a dynamic, growing non-profit environment; travel both in the U.S. and abroad. 

 

Specific Qualifications

 

·         Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

·         Minimum 8 years of experience in proposal development for program design for a variety of donors such as USAID, DOS, and DOL

·         Experience with/in Latin America and the Caribbean

·         Understanding of and experience complying with the complex of requirements of USG and private donors

·         Excellent writing and editing skills.

·         Progressive experience and proven ability to work independently and manage strategic proposal teams.

·         Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

·         Excellent organizational skills

·         Ability to manage time, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

·         Experience working with boards of directors and/advisory councils

·         High proficiency in Microsoft Office.

·         Fluency in English and Spanish.

 

This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC.
