1. What is a Partners Convention?

Every two years, Partners of the Americas holds a Convention in a city in the Western Hemisphere to bring the Network together to share experiences on timely topics in the region. Elections, the Partners Congress, and the Annual Meeting of the International Board of Directors also take place during the Convention.

2. How does Partners choose the place and the theme?

 Partners' chapters are invited to compete to for the right to host the Convention.  The theme is decided in consultation with the winning chapter. 

3. What does the registration fee cover?

The registration fee covers academic and cultural activities, local transportation to events, airport transfers, two receptions, two lunches, a gala dinner, coffee breaks, interpretation, and materials.

4. How do I register for the Convention? And can I register for both the Convention and the 2nd World Summit for Youth Volunteering at the same time?

6. Will there be an option to buy individual event tickets at the registration desk at the time of the Convention? 

Yes, there is an option to register for a day and/or for food functions only.  These tickets can be purchased at the hotel payable in cash (dollars or pesos), check, or credit card. 

7. What about hotels and flights?

Upon completing your registration you will receive a confirmation email that will include links to place your flight reservation online.  You can opt to receive a quote before purchasing your tickets, or you can go directly to purchase. 

8.Are there hotel discounts for Convention participants?

Yes!  The Convention site is Hotel Dann Carlton. Partners has negotiated a discounted rate, subject to availability, which is $124 (single); double twin- $157. To make your reservation contact Juana Montoya – jmontoya@danncarlton.com with your full name, dates of arrival, passport number, and credit card authorization to guarantee your room.

Hotel Diez is the venue for several pre- Convention activities. The hotel offers a discounted rate, subject to availability, for the Partners Convention- $107 single or twin. For reservations email Ana Maria Rua at

9. Does Partners offer scholarships for hotel, registration and/or flight for the Convention?

Conventions are self-funded events. Volunteers traveling to their counterpart chapter during the time of the Convention may include a stopover in Colombia in their application to attend. However, all Partners- sponsored travel must meet the criteria for the Education and Culture Program. Contact your chapter president for information.
