Partenrs of the Americas seeks a self-motivated and dedicated intern to provide support to its Climate Change Fellows Program. Throughout 2011, 43 professionals from the United States and Colombia will participate in a professional exchange program for government and civil society leaders in Colombia and the U.S. focusing on the effects and challenges of climate change in these communities. The exchange will bring together experts and community leaders from across Colombia and the U.S. to explore common challenges and build new skills and leadership in this area. Participants will implement community projects upon their return to apply what they have learned and sustain new relationships across sectors.

The Climate Change Intern will assist the Director and Program Officer with logistical and administrative support in facilitating this program.

This includes assistance with:

• outreach to local volunteers throughout the Americas and climate change organizations both in the United States and Colombia;
• development of promotional materials;
• logistical and administrative activities that ensure participants are well prepared to travel and that all stakeholders fully understand the goals of the program;
• monitoring and evaluation of the program; and
• research on current climate change trends.

The internship is available immediately. It requires a commitment of 15 to 25 hours a week. The internship is unpaid.

Requirements:

• Read, speak and write Spanish
• Excellent English writing skills
• Strong communication skills
• Current or recent student or graduate student with background in environmental science or issues related to climate change and international development desirable
• Highly motivated and ability to work independently
• Must enjoy working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
• Attention to detail
