Business Fellows Program Officer

 

Partners of the Americas is an international grassroots organization. We connect volunteers, organizations, and communities to serve and to change lives. We are seeking an energetic program officer to provide support to a professional exchange program focusing on international fellowships for small and medium enterprises in Latin America and the US. The exchange brings together experts and community leaders from across Latin America and the US to explore common challenges and build new skills and leadership in this area.

The responsibilities of the Program Officer are as follows:

  • Lead logistical and administrative activities that ensure participants are well prepared to travel and that all stakeholders fully understand the goals of the program; Coordinate pre-departure orientations and logistics, agendas and presentations, exchange logistics and cultural activities, and participant monitoring;
  • Provide support to activities that enhance program and partnership collaboration. These include coordination and frequent communication with participating Partners’ chapters. Applicant should have experience working with volunteers and be prepared to foster innovation in program implementation to strengthen a volunteer network;
  • Interact regularly with businesses and business development agencies in Latin America and the US; Interact with and mentor business professionals to identify relevant learning goals; match business professional with their peers based on identified goals and desired results;
  • Support outreach/publicity efforts for the program, including developing promotional materials in English and Spanish and drafting press releases and articles about program activities. Support innovative communications strategies and development of website and various forms of social media; Represent Partners and the program at conferences, seminars, and meetings;
  • Conduct monitoring and evaluation of the program, including maintaining up-to-date records of participants; maintaining frequent communication with volunteers, stakeholders, and participants; and collecting and analyzing data on program impact; and
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities to further connect the Partners professional fellowship network and build new programming areas.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Partners seeks the following skills and experience for this position:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or two years' professional related experience in international development or international NGOs preferred;
  • Background in international business or entrepreneurship desirable;
  • Fluency in Spanish required; excellent oral and written skills in English and Spanish; Portuguese not required but encouraged
  • Experience and skills working with volunteers desired;
  • Strong cross-cultural/interpersonal skills, knowledge of Latin America and development issues, and the ability to interact with participants with cultural sensitivity; and
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word and Excel and some experience with web management and social media development.

In addition, candidates should have demonstrated ability to work independently and be a team player; have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented; be able to manage time, set priorities, and meet deadlines; be enthusiastic and energetic; and be willing and flexible to undertake multiple tasks.
