Congratulations to soccer stars and Partners A Ganar/Vencer volunteers Fernando Henrique dos Anjos and Patricio "El Pato" Urrutia who will be competing in the Copa Libertadores finals.
As volunteers they work together to mentor youths through A Ganar/Vencer; but on this occasion they will be facing each other on the soccer pitch to decide who will be this year's South American club football champion.

THANK YOU. The recent Nike and Ashoka Changemakers Sport for a Better World Competition has concluded. Although we did not win in the popular online voting, we are grateful for the tremendous show of support by people from throughout the world. As a result of being named a finalist by the judges, many people learned about our work, more interest has been generated in using sport to help at-risk youth acheive their goals and A Ganar/Vencer will be featured in some important Sport for Development forums. Official U.S. Presidental Pan Am Games Delegation visits Vencer Brasil training in Rio de Janeiro. Donna Richardson Joyner, a member of the President's Council on Physcial Fitness; George Prescott Bush, chief operating officer of the N3 Opportunity Fund; and former Major League Baseball pitcher Luis Tiant met with approxiamtely 50 Brazilian youth along with programs trainers and administrators a part of a visit to the Vencer Brasil program. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) teams up with FIFA, CONMEBOL and CONCACAF to build opportunities for children and youth through sport. A Ganar/Vencer is the IDB's (through the Multilateral Investment Fund) largest investment in soccer-related youth development programing.

Over 160 Athletes Complete A Ganar Training in Uruguay
Amidst the presence of government authorities, including those from the fields of national sport and representatives of the business sector, more than 160 youth soccer players received their diploma upon completing training from "A Ganar", the first international job training program for young athletes.

Maracanã Stadium Hosts Vencer Brasil Launch
Rio's famed "Templo de Futebol" was the site of the December 5, 2006, Vencer Brasil launch. Over 500 people attended and guests played a "Copa Vencer" on the stadium field.

Uruguay Launch at Estadio Centenario
Members of Uruguay’s soccer community gathered with youth, community leaders, business and political leaders, and other guests on September 20th to publicly launch the A Ganar program in Montevideo, Uruguay.
