January 25th, 2012- Partners of the Americas joins the US Department of State in celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Youth Ambassadors program. In 2002, Partners of the Americas joined forces with the State Department and the US Embassy in Brazil to host the first group of Youth Ambassadors. Now more than 1,000 emerging youth leaders have participated and the program operates in 25 countries. Partners was instrumental in the program’s expansion with funding and support from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs at the State Department, and Partners led the creation of the International Youth Ambassadors Network.  Last year, Partners also engaged YA alumni at the 2nd World Summit for Youth Volunteering in Colombia, attended by nearly 900 young people from all over the globe.
